Known Without Explaining

Scripture in Motion

Galatians 1:10
“Am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ.”

We explain ourselves to be understood. We add more words, soften our tone, or rehearse conversations in our heads. But sometimes what we’re chasing isn’t clarity—it’s confirmation that we still matter.

Paul’s question doesn’t scold; it redirects. He names the tug-of-war between pleasing people and resting in God’s knowing. The need to be understood often disguises the deeper hunger to feel accepted, valued, important. But approval is a restless master.

The walk of faith is slower, quieter. It trusts that being known by God is enough, even when others misread our motives or dismiss our words. Servanthood steadies the heart where applause once lived.
